Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

Q: What is Hijama (cupping)? What are the different methods of Hijama (cupping)? What are the benefits of Hijama (cupping)? What positive outcomes occur after Hijama (cupping)?

A: Hijama (cupping) therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine, which dates back to Ancient Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures. There are different methods of Hijama (cupping); dry and wet. It commonly involves a therapist putting special cups on your skin to create a suction. Hijama (cupping) is fairly safe with no known side effects.

The benefits of Hijama (cupping) is the reward both heavenly and worldly, as stressed by the Sunnah of the Blessed Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

From a worldly perspective, the Hijama bloodletting technique has many benefits as follows:

  • It promotes the flow of energy in the blood
  • It removes toxins and other waste materials from the blood
  • It helps speed recovery time from a disease
  • It can help people who are have been inflicted by black magic or evil spirits
  • It has no side effects

Many diseases and disorders are caused by the failure of blood to circulate properly in the body. Also, body organs under-perform when blood, that is circulated, is loaded with impurities and toxins. Removing this toxic waste, from the body, through Hijama (cupping), helps the individual to recover much faster from the disease and prevents other diseases or disorders. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stated “Indeed the best of remedies you have is cupping (Hijama)…” (Bukhari).

The beneficial results after Hijama (cupping) are many, and are as follows:

  • Healthy and properly functioning body
  • Controlling infections
  • Preventing hypertension
  • Managing circulatory diseases and aches/pains
  • Aids fertility and relaxation

May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) give us good health.
